RICO is a Latin music festival concept created during my final year in college. As one of the few Latinas on campus, I often felt how invisible or underrepresented our culture was in the Midwest. This project became a way to reclaim that space and celebrate everything we bring to the table. RICO was designed to bring the heartbeat of Latin America to the U.S. Rooted in Kansas City, a city with a growing immigrant population, the festival embraces the vibrancy of Latinx identity through music, food, art, and community. The visual identity is playful, layered, and deeply inspired by Latin American aesthetics, florals, papel picado, vibrant palettes, and hand-painted signage. I designed a custom logotype that feels both nostalgic and new, referencing vintage typography styles with a modern twist. The palette is bold and bright, echoing the joy, rhythm, and movement of the culture.
